CYR is a Competitive and Developmental Club Rowing Program for all High School and Middle School Athletes in the Charlotte Area
Charlotte Youth Rowing was founded in 2000. CYR is a not-for-profit 501c(3). Since 2000, CYR has continued to grow and work towards being one of the top teams in the Southeast while sending countless Alumni off to some of the top collegiate rowing programs in the nation for both men and women.
Rowing is the ultimate team sport. Each boat does not move unless everyone is working together. The strong bonds you build with your crew will last forever. It is a sport based on skill, fitness, and a strong mentality. Anyone can learn how to row at any age. It is the sport that will teach you important life lessons and skills that you will carry with you the rest of your life.
There are different categories and boat classes we race. You may race in an eight, four, quad, double, pair, and single. At CYR we race in every boat, sweep, and scull (one or two oars per person).
Even if you are small for your age we have a role for you! Come be a coxswain. You will steer the boat, give motivation, and be a leader for your crew.
Our mission at CYR is to develop young athletes into young adults through responsibility, discipline, hard work, leadership, and teamwork in which the sport of rowing encompasses.
As a team and a family, we will pay attention to the little things, communicate with connection based on respect and honesty, and fail forward together. We will respect one another’s roles and lift each other to strive for excellence.
Our Vision is to build one of the best teams in the country; one connection, one stroke, and one day at a time.
