For the fall and spring seasons we row on Lake Wylie out of Catawba Yacht Club. We have our indoor training facility Motion Fitness in Southpark area.
Some athletes may be at our new Mount Holly small boat location.
Yes! We race in the fall and spring. Fall is what we call 'Head races' which are 5,000m or more. Spring is the spring season which is 2,000m race. We travel all over the southeast and even the country for races!
9-11th graders who attend Camp Thunderbird tryouts.
For learn to rows- It helps if you have an athletic background but no experience is necessary to start rowing. We teach you everything you need to know.
Middle Schoolers are welcome to try a learn to row over the summers.
Only prerequisite is they must be able to swim.
High Performance 6 days a week
JV/Novices 3 days- All new athletes will start on this squad. Girls are typically M-W-F on the water, boys T,TH,F. One required erg day on a day they are not on the water: Girls T/TH, Boys M/W.
4:30-6:30pm when we are on the water.
All athletes must be on time for practice! If they get out of school in Charlotte at 4-4:15pm they will not make our scheduled start time.
In the Spring we have an 85% attendance requirement to race. Athletes are responsible for checking their attendance every single day in our boathouse app.
Rowing is the ultimate team sport and when athletes are constantly missing practice or not checking attendance it affects the entire team.
Anywhere between 1400-1800. Some regattas not included like Nationals. We do our best to include everything for athletes for majority of regattas and keep our dues down as much as possible.
Winter is around $400 or less since we are not traveling
Yes, we row spring, fall, and do conditioning during the winter. Summer is the time for camps!
